Vertest were engaged by The Boonal Joint Venture (BJV) in association with GHD to complete an integrity inspection on their train load out bin which loads coal from both Yarrabee and Jelinbah coal mines south of Blackwater in Central Queensland.

There was a 36 hour rail shutdown window to complete the inspection scope which included both internal and external inspections consisting of Magnetic Particle Inspection of identified support structure and shell welds, Ultrasonic Thickness Testing of the shell and 100% Visual Inspection of both the bin and support structure. Combined with a tight time frame and very testing weather conditions courtesy of a tropical cyclone in  Northern Queensland the project demanded efficient teamwork and a firm focus on safety which Vertest delivered with the requested scope completed without incident or injury.

Since the completion of the project Vertest has worked alongside GHD to report back to BJV on the condition of the bin and support structure. Vertest will also provide services for further inspection on areas of concern. This project not only shows Vertest's ability to overcome external issues to meet deadlines but also our commitment to working with our partners through the entire duration of a project even after the completion of physical works to ensure an outcome of the highest quality.
